The PAC Classical Committee is happy to announce its plans for the 2019-2020 season. This year will be unusual in that we are fortunate enough to be able to offer four concerts instead of the usual three. The paid subscription series (4 concerts) begins on November 3, 2019, with a performance by the Ellicott String Piano Ensemble. On November 10, we will welcome well-known pianist Brian Ganz for a piano recital (please note that this is a Wednesday, a change from our usual schedule). Brian often solos with the National Philharmonic at the Strathmore.
In the new year, we look forward to performances by Simone Baron, a pianist also known for her work on the accordion, on February 9, 2020, and the District Strings Trio on April 5, 2020. All of these concerts will be held in the Riderwood Chapel on Sunday evenings, starting at 7:30 unless otherwise listed.
We will once again be offering subscriptions for the Classical Concert Series. You will notice a difference in pricing, in part because there are four concerts rather than three and in part because professional musicians need more money. A subscription ticket for all four shows will cost $30.00, or a resident may pay $10.00 at the door for each individual concert. From today, you may buy a subscription by sending a check for $30.00, payable to PAC, to Susan Rogers, CL 621 via intercampus mail. Subscriptions will also be on sale in all dining rooms on Monday, September 23. If you miss that sale, you may still send a check (as above) to Susan Rogers until October 15, the last day of subscription sales. Subscription tickets will then be printed and distributed before the end of October. After that, $10.00 non-subscription tickets will be available at the door at each concert.
Don’t miss our free concert on January 5, 2020, with the Friday Morning Music Club (FMMC). This group will present concerts on three Sunday evenings during our 2019-2020 Classical Season (The remaining concerts will be on March 1, 2020, and May 3, 2020).
