Bocce Tournament set for August 21

One of the many fun events at Riderwood is the annual Resident-Staff Bocce tournament. 2019 will be the seventh year. It is fun to watch, especially to see some of the young staff members do well who have never even seen a bocce court. Their excitement is contagious. Although the resident teams play regularly, of the six previous tournaments they are split three wins each.  So this is a tie-breaking year. This year the tournament will take place on Wednesday, August 21, at 10:00 a.m. with a rain date on Wednesday, August 28. It is a few weeks from now, so mark your calendars so you don’t miss it.

You are all invited and encouraged to come cheer your favorite team on to victory, be it staff or resident. Ample seating will be available and light refreshments will be served.

It is also an excellent opportunity for those of you who are not familiar with Bocce to come see how it is played. It is a simple lawn bowling type game that is easy to learn, requires little effort, is easy on the joints, and lots of fun. If you can step onto the court, you can play. All it requires is to be able to roll a softball-size ball toward a target. Come join us on our regular play times; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and/or Friday at 10:00 a.m. The courts are located across the parking lot from the tennis courts and behind Arbor Ridge.
