Concert Producer, Riderwood Piano Club
Seven years ago, a few Riderwood residents who shared a common love of piano music, as listeners or players, formed a new group that became the Riderwood Piano Club. Shortly after, a new idea emerged. We would now be able to sponsor concerts devoted to young people who display real musical talent and are related to a resident. We would look for students in schools and universities.
The response has been overwhelming. The students love to perform and the residents applaud and appreciate their special talents. This year’s crop of fine young musicians features a pianist, a classical guitarist, a vocalist plus a surprise or two.
Jacob Kaplan has played piano beautifully in a couple of earlier concerts.
Lucas White thrilled us with his wonderful voice and remarkable range although he has just reached his early teens.
Robbie Belson appears in his final concert at Riderwood as he transitions from outstanding guitarist and multi-tasking student to the complex world of high tech.
Sean Custer has studied classical piano for many years and has appeared in these concerts a few times before. This year he will perform – but not what you might expect. In no way!
This year’s “Relatives of Residents” concert will take place on Sunday evening, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Tickets at $5 each will go on sale in all dining area lobbies on Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16 from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., as well as at the door. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. Please join us. Bring your friends and family for a heartwarming experience.
