Greetings from Administration: June 2019

As I look out of my office window writing this, I see the biggest crane that I’ve ever seen in my life right here at Riderwood! It is putting the steel together like pieces of a puzzle as the building of our new Wellness Center takes shape. This is another part of our effort here at Riderwood to progress and move forward.

What is progress?  We know it involves change. George Bernard Shaw opined that “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”   “Progressives” are defined as persons “advocating or implementing social reform or new, liberal ideas.”  Often, we need to get out of our comfort zone and break with the past in order to make life better.

I have been so thankful that the residents of Riderwood have really embraced the change going forward.  There is a great sense of positive anticipation as we continue to improve the physical plant over time.

There are some things that you don’t necessarily see in our systems…new cooling towers, heating and cooling units, roofing…and those that you can, like the new Town Center, the upcoming Wellness Center and the Lakeside Commons improvements. We anticipate the new Wellness Center to be delivered in May 2020, the very month that we will celebrate our 20th anniversary as a community.  And, months before that, Lakeside Commons will have a new look and functionality. How about that…we will turn 20 in 2020! We have a lot to celebrate now and in the future.

Thank you to everyone for your forbearance during construction. Sometimes it can feel like a “war zone” with the detours in the roads, the noise and the big equipment. But it will be worth it. Hang in there! See you around Riderwood!
