Remember the excitement of your first train excursion? The noise of a steam engine, the conductor checking tickets, or the wheels gently rocking you may come to mind. The Acousti-Cats will bring some of these memories to life in their next sing-a-long program at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 26, in the Encore Theater.
Railroad work songs like “Take This Hammer” by Leadbelly, may have been chanted by the Gandy Dancers as they constructed the rail lines. Songs by and about hobos such as “The Hobo’s Lullaby,” and songs about train journeys on “The Chattanooga Choo-Choo” or the “Orange Blossom Special” are all on the program.
Riderwood’s Ukulele Band, The Acousti-Cats, enjoys planning and practicing for these programs. We love to share our fun. We encourage you to sing or hum or clap with the music or just enjoy the pictures and words projected on the theater’s screen. The program is free, though donations are accepted at the door; all of which are given to the Benevolent Care Fund.
Join in our fun as “This Train Is Bound for Glory.”
