The CommUNITY Living Committee is working to support the belief that Riderwood is a very special place to live, work and visit. In keeping with our mission to focus on the joys and challenges of living in a close community, we have designated April as “Pay it Forward” month. We are encouraging acts of kindness and expressions of gratitude. During this time and beyond, we are asking everyone to focus on “lifting each other up.” Don’t we all feel better when someone offers a “hello,” a compliment, or simply holds a door for us? These small gestures can make a big difference in our own and in someone else’s life. Leading researchers in the field of social psychology have found that those who adopt an “attitude of gratitude” gain a number of health benefits.
In this environment, where we are asking you to choose civility, we want to urge and remind each other to think about how you can “pay it forward” today. The Committee has shown a movie, “Pay it Forward” which speaks to the subject of thinking of others. During the month of April there will also be banners in each clubhouse where you can express your ideas in writing, suggesting ways to continue acts of kindness and lift one another up.
We all have unique contributions to make in this regard. It is our hope that we will join as a community to promote harmonious living and give as we receive.
