Riderwood’s PAC will present Lena Seikaly, a wonderful jazz performer from the D.C area, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 15, in the Encore Theater. Lena and her quartet will perform many of your favorite jazz standards from the American Songbook.
Lena was named “one of Washington’s preeminent jazz singers” and “brightest voices in jazz” (The Washington Post), as well as a “major league young talent in jazz” (Duke Ellington’s biographer Dr. John Hasse). Washington DC area-native Lena is already making her mark in national and international jazz circles as a revivalist of traditional jazz vocals, as well as an innovator in contemporary vocal jazz styles. She was one of eleven semi-finalists in the prestigious 2015 Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Vocals Competition in Los Angeles.
Lena is an avid educator, arranger, and soloist. She is also a classically-trained opera mezzo-soprano, having studied at the University of Maryland School of Music.
Tickets are $5 each and will be on sale at all dining locations on Monday, March 11, and Tuesday, March 12, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Plan to get your tickets on Monday evening as this is sure to be a sellout event.
