“Hooray for Spring,” says Actor’s Studio

By Sue Aiken
Producer, Riderwood Actor’s Studio

Tired of the Arctic blast chilling your toes and freezing your nose? Sick of snow slicking up the sidewalks and covering the glorious growth of green grass? Well, Spring is coming, and the Actors’ Studio Players will be welcoming it with a brand-new show – all new skits, monologues and music for everyone to enjoy. The May production of “Hooray for Spring” will be performed in the Encore Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2. We look forward to having you join us for an evening of fun and laughter.

Can’t wait that long? Consider becoming a part of the show. As always, we welcome all residents who would like to perform, assist with props and staging, and those who have some technical knowledge with sound, lighting, and camera. No experience, no worries! You have a lifetime of experience, playing many roles through the years, to pull from. Don’t stress about learning your part. No memorization of the scripts or monologues will be required. Get stage fright? Get real, we’ve all faced much scarier things in life. Remember, we are a Riderwood community, and we support each other. Who doesn’t enjoy a good laugh? This is your opportunity to take a chance on something new. A good time is guaranteed to be had by all.

Casting for the show will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, in the Music Room in Village Square.  Rehearsals will continue each week at the same location, day and time until the week of the show. Beginning on Monday, April 29, rehearsals will then be held in the Encore Theatre. We look forward to having you join us. If you have questions, please contact Sue Aiken (301-847-5376) or Selma Barnett (301-890-4571).
