Mary Ann Jung brings history to life

By Alan Mayers

Producer, Performing Arts Council

What do Amelia Earhart, Sally Ride, Rosie the Riveter, Clara Barton, and Rosalie of Riverdale, have in common? They have all been recreated on our Encore Theater stage by Mary Ann Jung — actress. scholar, and historian. In her next incarnation, the Riderwood Performing Arts Council will present Ms. Jung as “Julia Child – Queen of Cuisine” on Friday, January 18 at 7:30. She will highlight  Julia’s early search to find her life’s calling and provide fascinating insight into her struggles at Le Cordon Bleu, to develop and publish “Mastering the Art of French Cooking,” and finally to create the groundbreaking “French Chef” television show. Julia’s beloved husband Paul and her co-authors Simca and Louisette will be represented by audience members invited to portray them onstage.

Mary Ann Jung has been recognized for her ability to take on the entire persona of the characters she represents. She relishes the opportunity to interact with and answer questions from the audience while remaining in character and promises to serve up a tasty recipe for fun.

Tickets for this event will be on sale in all community lounges from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, January 14 and 15.
