The days are shorter and nights colder, signifying the countdown to December holidays! Brighten the season with lively holiday music, singing along with the Acousti-Cats and their ukuleles in Encore Theater on Tuesday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m.
The program includes traditional songs as well as some tunes you’ve never heard. Winter is celebrated with “Jingle Bells.” Hanukkah brings the “Dreidel Song,” not the version you learned as a child, but a funky version by Julie Silver. For Christmas we have “Little Drummer Boy” with our own drummer, Michael Leibelson, playing rhythm. Kwanzaa honors Christmas songs including “Go Tell It On the Mountain” from the African-American heritage. These are merely a hint of the program list.
You may be surprised by the special singers and instrumentalists in some numbers.
The lyrics for songs are projected on Encore’s large screen and are enhanced with pictures. Even if you don’t sing, you can enjoy the program.
The program is free though you may make a donation at the door which will be given to the Benevolent Care Fund.
