Gobble, gobble everyone! Please join us for the annual Turkey Trot on Friday, November 16 , to jump-start the Thanksgiving holiday. The Turkey Trot is open to all residents and staff, and brings everyone together to socialize and get fit while having fun and giving thanks for our friends and loved ones. For every 10 walkers who participate, a turkey will be donated to the Maryland Food Bank to help a needy family for the Thanksgiving holiday.
We will meet in the lobby of Village Square at 9:30 a.m. on November 16. At 10 a.m., the Turkey will lead the walking parade from Village Square to Montgomery Station, continuing to Town Center, then to Lakeside Commons, and ending at the Glen at Orchard Point for light refreshments and games.
All mobility levels are welcomed and encouraged to participate. Walkers may choose between a long route and a short route. In the event that it rains, the Turkey Trot will be held indoors. Please come out and show your support while having a nice morning autumn trot with the Turkey. Your participation and charity will be much appreciated this holiday season by those who are less fortunate.
For more information, or to register to walk, please contact Tracy Fowlkes at the Lakeside Commons Fitness Center or call

FIT Tip of the Month
From the Falls Intervention Team
Scatter Rugs are a trip hazard for anyone but especially those with mobility issues or who cannot lift their feet far off the ground when walking. We recommend that these not be used except for bath mats that have a rubber backing.
The rubber backing greatly reduces the risk. Even then, these should be picked up and placed out of the way when not in use and put back down at bath/shower time.
