Co-chair, Riderwood Health Forum
The November meeting of the Riderwood Health Forum will offer a view of health care as it must sometimes be provided in situations of dire need and urgent and chaotic stress, where even basic needs for survival may be absent or uncertain.
Riderwood residents Marge and Chuck Pulfrey will speak about some of their experiences as volunteers in their presentation Another Side of the Red Cross: Our Eight Years with American Red Cross Disaster Action Teams.
The meeting will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 16, in the Village Square Music Room.
Chuck, a graduate of Villanova University, served as an officer in the U.S. Navy for 21 years. Marge, a graduate of Immaculata University, also served as an officer in the U.S. Navy for two years and a Navy wife for 21 years. Upon retirement they volunteered with the Montgomery County Community Emergency Response Team and the American Red Cross Disaster Action Teams.
They were part of the Response Team in New Orleans during Hurricane Isaac and in Staten Island, NY, during Superstorm Sandy, in addition to many others. All are invited to attend.
