You’ve heard that music benefits the brain. You suspect playing an instrument and/or singing might calm stress. Maybe you’ve never played an instrument or maybe you are an accomplished musician looking for a bit of fun. Here’s your chance. Register for a free 4-session introduction to the ukulele on Friday afternoons starting September 14. You need to have a ukulele and a way to tune the instrument. The cost of buying ukes varies widely, though beginner instruments run between $40 and $50. The Acousti-Cats have a few loaner ukes for early registrants. If you are interested in the introductory class, contact Becky Hedin for details about exact time and location here at Riderwood.
Perhaps next summer you will be the one saying, “I played a ‘You Are My Sunshine’ ukulele duet with my 9-year-old granddaughter at the family reunion, which was one of my personal highlights of that trip!”
After the fourth class you will be invited to join the Acousti-Cats. The ‘Cats’ rehearse on Tuesdays in Encore Theater from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
To sign up for the introductory class contact Becky Hedin in Hampton Square T19. And remember, you are never too old to learn a new skill!
