By the Arts Council of Riderwood
Why are all these pictures on the wall?
Because the Arts Council of Riderwood exhibits the talent and beauty of art created by residents and staff! And there will be a new exhibit soon. On September 20 entries for exhibit VI will be juried by an outside art professional, to be hung for viewing on October 4.
What determines the art in each exhibit?
Artists may submit up to three entries of artwork. All media are welcome — paintings, woodworking, glass, ceramic, fabric, photography, paper — the two important criteria are that the artist be a resident or staff member of Riderwood, and that the artwork be original.
When and where and how does this happen?
Pick up an application from any front desk, fill it out, and bring it with your artwork to the Card Room at Village Square on September 20, between 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. It’s as simple as that!
How can I learn more about the displays?
The Arts Council sponsors a brief walk through each new exhibit in Lakeside Commons, conducted by former Corcoran docent Betsy Brener. Watch for the notice for Art Talks on Riderwood TV, the calendar, and your community bulletin board.
Who is the juror?
Come to Meet the Artists at the Encore Theater Gallery at 2:00 in Lakeside Commons and the juror will be made known to everyone!
What if I have any further questions?
Please contact any member of the Arts Council. You will find their names and numbers on the catalogs and brochures by each gallery.
There is a wealth of outstanding artists living and working in Riderwood Village. We wish to encourage and entice each of you to join us in making our communities inviting by displaying your beautiful artwork.
