By Don Messersmith
Leader, The Riderwood Birding Group
In my travels throughout the world, I have been privileged to observe more than 4,000 of the world’s approximately 10,000 species of birds. On every continent, I have photographed many of these birds.
I have been asked by several residents to share some of my bird photographs, not in a regular class setting, but through a series of talks about the birds for which I have photographs. In each one-hour session of the six-week long series, I will show and discuss some birds and their habitats from each continent in the following sequence: Antarctica and New Zealand, Africa, Australia, Eurasia (Europe and Asia), South America, and Western North America.
The talks will be given in the Lakeside Commons classroom at 2:30 p.m. on Fridays, September 21 and 28, and October 5, 12, 19, and 26. Due to seating restrictions, the series will be limited to 30 residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
