Group Leader, Bella Vocci
The appearance of the “Purple Lady” on campus heralds the coming of a concert by Bella Vocci, Riderwood’s own premier source of LIVE operatic music.
Bella Vocci’s fall concert will present a program of favorite Mozart arias at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, in the Chapel. The program, “Songs by Mozart,” will be sung by Riderwood favorites soprano Suzanne Lane and mezzo Anamer Castrello, with a special guest appearance by soprano Meghan McCall.
Suzanne Lane has been appearing at Olney Theater this summer and sang the leading female role in a concert performance of “Candide.” Ms. Castrello is currently auditioning for leading roles in several major opera companies, including San Diego. Ms. McCall is known in the Washington area for her appearances with Bel Cantanti Opera Company in Montgomery County and The InSeries in Washington D.C.
They will be accompanied by Dr. Carlos Rodriguez on piano. Riderwood residents may remember Dr. Rodriguez as the composer of the new version of “Songs of the Auvergne” which Bella Vocci premiered here in the spring concert.
Bella Vocci is looking forward to welcoming you to this musical treat. Tickets for the September 12 performance cost $10 and will be sold in all four clubhouses on Thursday and Friday, September 6 and 7, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the door.
