On Saturday, June 23, at 2:00 p.m., be prepared for laughter in the Encore Theater as Riderwood’s Entertainment Presenters will once again collaborate with the Laurel Mill Playhouse to benefit the Benevolent Care Fund. This time it’s a matinee performance of two award-winning one-act plays that are guaranteed to make you forget what the late June weather may be offering.
In “This Play Sucks,” by Aaron Sorkin, actors in a children’s theater company touring the south, and sitting around in a hot hotel room playing cards one night suddenly realize that the play they’re involved with “sucks.” Laurel Mill’s Maureen Rogers will star. Maureen won the best actor award at the 2008 Maryland One Act Festival for her performance in this play.
In “Mugger in the Park,” by James H. Wise, an elderly Jewish woman sitting alone on a bench in a deserted park proves to be a dangerous thing—but to whom?
Both plays will be directed by Laurel Mill’s Michael Hartfield. Tickets will be on sale for $5.00 outside the dining rooms in each of the clubhouses on Monday, June 18 and Tuesday, June 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
