On Board with Pat Davis – May 2018

By Pat Davis
Director Living in Community

On April 4, Riderwood commemorated the 50th anniversary of the death of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a moving memorial service in the Chapel.

Five members of our Board of Directors from Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland were in attendance. If you were unable to attend, a video of the event is available online now at www.riderwoodtv.com.

The following week our Board Chair, Jim Anders, and I met over dinner with 14 residents who moved to Riderwood during the last year or so. It was fascinating to learn why they chose this community, to hear their early impressions, and to answer questions about the Board and its responsibility for governance. Soon, the first of two opportunities this year will give everyone the chance to join in the conversation.

The Annual Meeting will take place on May 21 at 11 a.m. in the Encore Theater, and all are welcome. Prior to the meeting, copies of Riderwood’s 2017 Annual Report and Consolidated Financial Statements will be available at the front desks. The meeting will be led by our community’s management team and the members of our Community Relations Committee (CRC.) The CRC represents Riderwood’s Board and consists of Jim Anders, Chair, Eileen Erstad, and myself as our Director Living in Community. Jim and Eileen also serve on the Board of our sponsoring organization, National Senior Campuses.

I hope all who can will attend the meeting on May 21 to learn more about the accomplishments of 2017 and the plans and challenges that lie ahead.
