Join the Acousti-Cats for a nostalgic sing-a-long with Irish themed songs on Sunday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Encore Theater. Many program selections were recorded by Bing Crosby between 1940 and 1952. These include his gold-selling Top Ten hits, “Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral (That’s an Irish Lullaby),” “MacNamara’s Band,” and “Galway Bay,” as well as “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling,” “Danny Boy,” and the hilarious tune, “Who Threw the Overall in Mrs. Murphy’s Chowder?”
The Acousti-Cats, a 28-member group, primarily play ukuleles and are directed by Becky Hedin. The “Cats” started in September, 2011 following the strums of Riderwood’s original ukulele group, The Ukulele Riders. Current members meet each Tuesday afternoon in Encore to practice songs for sing-a-longs which are presented to Independent Living, Intermissions, and Arbor Ridge about three times each year.
Mark your calendars to attend the free, fun program on May 20. Note: donations at the door will be given to the Benevolent Care Fund.
