The end of the bocce season is a sad time for our Bocce fans so we save our favorite activity for the end and that is the annual Resident-Staff Bocce Tournament, an anxiously anticipated event that is hotly contested by both sets of adversaries. We are now approaching our fifth contest, having alternated winning and losing, with each team having two wins. The staff players are surprisingly good and a great challenge to the residents who play more regularly.
It is always fun to watch the young players who have never even seen a Bocce Court do well; they get excited, and the viewers join in their excitement. The date for the Resident-Staff Tournament is Tuesday, November 7, at 10 a.m., with a rain date Nov 8. The games are always so much fun to watch. You are all invited to come cheer your favorite team on to victory, be it staff or resident. Light refreshments will be served, with ample seating.
It seems that many residents still do not know about Bocce. For those of you who are not familiar with the game, this is a good time to come see how it is played. It is a simple lawn bowling type game that is easy to learn, requires little effort, easy on the joints, and lots of fun. If you can step into the court, you can play. It requires little effort beyond rolling a softball size ball toward a target.
We hope you take this opportunity to join in on the fun. The courts are located across the parking lot from the tennis courts and behind Arbor Ridge.
