Veterans Legacy Group
Join us for the Veterans Day Ceremony that will be held on Friday, November 10th at 10:30 a.m. in the Lakeside Commons Encore Theater. We hope that you will all come out to join us in celebrating our veterans and their families. This is a wonderful campus wide event, that promotes our sense of community. Come by to learn about the history of Veteran’s Day, join us in the sing a long, and hear stories shared by our very own Riderwood veterans. We encourage you to wear your military uniform or any other items indicating your military affiliation so you can be recognized for your service.
The Veterans Legacy Group (VLG) also sponsors events such as the Flag Day celebration and the Navy Brass Quartet performance. But did you know that the VLG also meets on the first Friday of each month except those months when the above three events are held?
A variety of programs occur at regular first Friday meetings. Residents have shared interesting stories regarding their military experiences during actions from World War II through the Middle East. Members have made presentations on significant military actions such as the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of Midway. Also the VLG has speakers from the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs which updates veterans on benefits available to them as well as their spouses and children.
The VLG welcomes all veterans, as well as spouses, relatives and anyone else interested in military history. Feel free to join us at any of our meetings or events. There are no obligations, no dues, nor commitments. For more information on the group, please contact Jules Balog at 301-572-9596.
