Improve your health with Seated Core Training classes

Improve your posture, balance, and stability with Seated Core Training classes. The class is held on Wednesdays at 10:00–10:30 a.m. in the Village Square Music Room. Taught by Fitness Coordinator Tricia Walsh, the class promotes good posture, balance, and stability.

Weak core muscles contribute to slouching. Good posture projects confidence and more importantly, it lessens stress on the spine and allows you to breathe properly and deeply. Your core also stabilizes your body, allowing you to move in any direction or stand in one spot without losing your balance, lessening your risk of falling.

In addition to your abdominal muscles, your core includes muscles in your back and hips that work together to stabilize your spine and keep it in alignment. When your core muscles are weak, your spine doesn’t have adequate support to maintain posture naturally. Your other muscles begin to compensate, which can lead not only to a slouchy stance, but also a host of other issues: instability, neck and shoulder tension, lower back pain, digestion issues, breathing difficulties, fatigue, restricted movement, headaches, chronic pain, and joint problems.
