Riderwood will celebrate Earth Day Tuesday, April 18 in Maryland Hall at Montgomery Station from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. This year’s slogan is “Environmental and Climate Literacy.” Our presentations and table displays will focus on educating us all about how to understand the environment around us. The Earth Day celebration.
Country Nursery will be on campus with plants, flowers, and vegetables for sale. This event is an excellent opportunity to pick something up to beautify your patio and provide sustenance for our butterflies, bees, and birds. And, back by popular demand will be the jewelry sale. Jewelry will be collected from March 22 until April 5, so think about what you want to recycle. Proceeds from this sale will benefit the Chesapeake Bay Fund. More information will be available on the bulletin boards and Riderwood TV. Stop by to see how Riderwood resident-run groups, residents, staff and vendors do their part to sustain the environment for future generations. There will be plenty of useful information for those who want to be better prepared to take action. We hope to see you there!
Speakers and films to bring awareness to Earth Day are lined up in the Encore Theatre leading to the event. BBC’s Planet Earth will be presented in the Encore Theatre on Tuesday, April 4 at 7:00pm. Dan Misleh, Catholic Climate Covenant Director, will speak on Climate Change in the Encore Theatre on Tuesday, April 11 at 7:00pm.
